- 125g soft butter
- 125g granulated sugar
- 3 medium eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 175g flower
- 500g apples
- Whipped cream (German style)
For the Crumble
- 75g granulates sugar
- 20g butter
- 30g flour
- Sprinkle of cinnamon (optional)
The Method
- Preheat the oven to 170°C (fan)
- Whisk the butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla
- Slowly add flour and baking powder, continuously stirring the mix
- Grease a springform and cover with a fine dusting of flour
- Add the cake mix and then arrange the apple slices on top, slightly pushing them into the mix
- To make the crumble, mix sugar, butter and flour with your fingers until they form crumbs — spread these over the apples
- Bake in the oven for 30 minutes — to check if the cake is cooked, poke it with a toothpick, if any crumbs stick to it, let it bake a little longer
